Does SmartLog contain any paraffin?
No, SmartLog is made entirely of 100% natural wood residues and does not contain any chemical additives.
How do you light it?
For the best results, place kindling wood in your fireplace and get a small fire going. Then, simply place 1 to 3 SmartLog energy logs on top of the fire. Never use any combustible fuel.
If you do not have any kindling wood, simply follow these four easy steps:
Lighting SmartLog energy logs
Step 1
Set two SmartLog energy logs parallel and place a fire starter between them. The fire starter must touch both logs.
Step 2
Light the fire starter. Let it burn for about one minute (until it is fully enflamed.)
Step 3
Place a third SmartLog energy log at an angle and rest it on both logs, on top of the fire starter.
Step 4
Add logs as needed but only one at a time.
* For faster results, use kindling wood to get the fire started.
How many trees are cut down to make SmartLog?
None! SmartLog is made of hardwood, but the company recycles residues from all its hardwood flooring mills to manufacture it. No tree is cut to make this product and we use 100% of the raw material that comes into our plants by manufacturing it. That’s how committed to the environment we are.
Is heating with SmartLog safe?
SmartLog energy logs are safe for all EPA-certified fireplaces or wood-burning stoves. In fact, our Environmental Choice Certification attests this safety quality. Using the guidelines of our BSL Energy Division, you’ll enjoy a fire that is more intense and burns longer then if you used conventional firewood.
Why is this product so environmentally-friendly?
SmartLog is made according to a unique heat-and-pressure process using 100% natural wood residues. It is much drier than traditional logs (6 to 8% humidity content) and it contains no bark. Contrary to heating using conventional firewood – a known source of atmospheric pollution – SmartLog contributes to lowering the amount of fine particles released in the environment. SmartLog is also cleaner because it leaves less ash behind. |
